Theo Reveals Himself - Part One
I’m twitchy all day at work, even when Brian comes in for the new Ella Light novel. Usually I love chatting with Brian. He’s smart and kind, always helping people out. I wonder how many women secretly have their eye on him. Today, though, I’m so antsy with my need to watch Tina’s cameras on my phone that I’m not my normal friendly self, and he leaves quickly. I feel a moment of regret, but I’m soon glued to my phone again. I know this has become addictive, but I’m not willing to do anything about it. Tina should only be working a half-day today, but she hasn’t returned home. I’m angry with myself for not putting a camera on her car. This waiting is killing me.
The second I can legitimately close the library, I have the door locked. There are piles of unshelved books and inter-library loans to process, but I leave it all for tomorrow. I need to know Tina’s okay.
I drive to her work, but her car’s not there. I try the halls where she has Pilates and Zumba. I try the gym, and there it is, her little white Mini. I park in a far corner and keep watch. I want to go in and see her train. She looks so fucking good in Lycra. I think of the men in there right now, watching her ass, their eyes on her tits, her crotch, maybe sidling up to chat, to see if they can talk her into going for a drink so they can get their filthy fucking hands on her. The pain in my own hands brings me back to the present. I’ve got the steering wheel in a death grip. I shake out my hands, but I can’t shake the images. I’ve got one hand on the door, ready to go in there and check no-one’s harassing her, when she trots down the gym steps. My god she’s gorgeous. Her hair is wet, combed back so it’s not falling in front of her face. She’s wearing three-quarter-length jeans and a white T-shirt, but she makes that look like the sexiest outfit imaginable. Everything fits her so snugly. You could run your hand over her clothes and feel every curve of her body.
She’s pulling away! I collect myself and follow at a distance. I almost lose her when I get caught by a red light, but I spot her down a side road just in time and anger the driver behind me by making a sudden turn. He blasts his horn and I see her look in her rearview mirror at me. Has she seen me? She’s looking again. There’s nothing I can do. There’s only one car between us. She might know my car from the library...I think the game’s up. I’m going to have to confess how I feel for her.
The car between us turns off and there’s no doubt that she’s looking at me. An almighty crash and screeching metal breaks the spell. She’s driven into the back of a once-swanky sports car. I have to brake hard to not hit her Mini. I leap out, but the driver in front is already bellowing in her window, calling her names, getting right in her face. As I run the few feet, I see she’s crying. That fucking oaf has made my Tina cry!
“Get the fuck away from her!”
My voice is always deep, probably because I have a big chest, but even to my ear it sounds aggressive now. The man turns to face me. I have the height and weight advantage and I’m more than prepared to use it, but I don’t want to look like a psycho in front of Tina.
“You will exchange insurance details. Then you will leave. You will not approach her car again.”
My chest is heaving. I must look deranged. It works, though. He goes to his car and returns with a card from his insurer. I take the paper Tina’s scribbled on and hand it to him, taking his card. I stand with my arms folded until he’s driven off, his exhaust scraping down the road behind him like a dog with its tail between its legs.
Tina’s staring at me.
“Oh my god, Theo, that was amazing.”
I’m relieved she doesn’t think I’m a psychopath. Maybe she doesn’t realise how close I felt to violence. I smile at her and she gives me a wobbly smile in return.
“You need to phone your rescue company. Do you want me to wait with you, or shall I take you home now?”
She pauses.
“I just want to go home.”
We arrange to have her car picked up, then she gets into my car. Tina is in my car! Right next to me! The adrenaline of the whole situation is catching up with me. My hands shake slightly on the wheel. I can’t think of a thing to say.
We reach her house and sit in silence. This is the moment. I have to tell her how much I want to be with her. She’s so precious, so innocent_
“Would you like to come in?”
“Um, yeah, sure, yeah, I’d love that, I mean, to make sure you’re okay. You’ve had a shock, haven’t you?”
She laughs at me and gets out. I stumble after her, wondering why I’ve regressed to my seventeen-year-old self. As I close the front door behind me, she is standing, waiting, but I don’t know for what. She looks so tiny. I place my hand on her cheek.
“I couldn’t bear that man shouting at you. I don’t want anyone to hurt you, ever. You’re so beautiful, Tina. You’re so fucking beautiful, I just want to hold you and keep you safe, always.”
I barely know what I’m saying. I fold my arms around her, my heart lifting as she relaxes into me. I kiss the top of her head and she looks up at me with those eyes, that smile. I kiss her lips, softly and slowly, savouring every moment, my whole body weightless with joy. She parts her lips and the kiss deepens, gathers energy. I pull my body away from her, embarrassed at the obvious effect this is having on me, but she pulls me close again, presses her hips up against mine. A switch flips in me and suddenly I’m yanking her T-shirt over her head, fumbling with her jeans to shove them down her legs. She helping me, stepping out of her jeans, pulling my shirt off me, undoing my trousers. In no time, we’re naked, me and Tina. I have her hot little body in my hands and she’s kissing me like she wants me just as badly as I want her.

This beckons me…speaks to something in me…thank you Ella.
